How To Style A Full Christmas Tree
“Looks great! Little full! Lotta’ sap!!”
~ Clark Griswold
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
My tree may not have a lot of sap, but like Clark, I sure do love a full tree!!! I love going to Christmas open houses and seeing all of the overly stuffed trees!!
So here are my best tips on how to STUFF YOUR TREE!!!
- Start with a beautiful full tree. I got mine from King Of Christmas. Make sure you fluff it out!!
- Lay out all of your ornaments into stacks. This helps to clearly see what you have to work with.
- Add your favorite garland. You can wrap it around the tree or go from top to bottom, billowing it out as you go.
- I like to place my largest (heavy) items in first. I try to buy things in ODD numbers so it’s easier to keep them evenly spaced.
- Make sure to work in a triangular formation when placing things in the tree. I just sort of shove mine in but some people use wire to keep things in place.
- It’s time to add in all of the ornaments with writing on them. Still working in a triangle formation to keep things evenly spaced.
- Add in the smaller ornaments as filler pieces.
- Next, add extra long pieces that will stick out from the tree, like branches and natural elements. This helps to hide any holes you may still have.
- Finally, top the tree off with a large tree topper or oversized ornament.
A FEW MORE TIPS :
- Pick a theme!!
- Use your theme to decide on a color combination.
- Buy ornaments that work well with your theme. My favorite ornaments come from My Trusted Treasures and Southern Charm Decor
- Be sure to buy large and small pieces.
- Long stems and oversized ornaments make great fillers!!
- Think outside of the box when picking a tree skirt.

The most important part is to enjoy the process!! Have a wonderful holiday!!
